Entry Gate in Corte Madera
The program was to redefine the entry while providing a sheltered link between two previously separated living areas of the house. The arch was a natural form which not only creates the entry shelter, but also incorporates the few steps that occur in the link. The entry is further defined by the Maybeck-styled gate & trelliswork.

Rear yard development includes pool, spa, waterfall fountain, change rooms, barbeque area and outdoor stereo.
Every once in a while there is a project with such an unusual and interesting program that the solution is not immediately obvious. In this case the key to the solution was site planning - a circulation pattern that would clearly tie together the various building components. On the property was a small A-frame house and a storage shed. These two elements were retained with the following elements added: an expanded living room, remodeled kitchen, master bedroom suite, viewing deck, party kitchen, art studiio, swimming pool and hot tub. An entry courtyard became the circulation focal point providing a clear path to the front door and the other building elements..

Viewing Deck
With a panaramic view of the Golden Gate, San Francisco and the Bay Area, the viewing deck provides the perfect sunset gathering spot.
The living room extension not only takes advantage of the view but provides back-lit lighting for nightime viewing of the unique stained glass by artist Elizabeth Devereux.

The Party Kitchen
The old storage shed was converted into a Party Kitchen with space for large gatherings. The old brick floor & exposed ceiling beams were retained for a rustic country character.

An existing home possesses the perfect view. Decks at two levels provide barbeque and sitting area off of the existing swimming pool area. As an added benefit, the structure of the decks provides a structural moment frame that stabilizes the existing older building. The upper deck is tiled to provide a waterproof covering for the lower terrace.
